Eljen

The Eljen system consists of a very long piece of fabric that is folded on itself like an accordion until it forms a rectangular pad about 36” wide 48” long 7” high. There are plastic “egg carton” like spacers within the pad to allow for a void space. This pad is then kept together by several “packaging” bands. The pads are then laid out touching each other in a row over clean course sand. A perforated PVC pipe is laid down the center of the pads and then a geo-textile cover fabric is placed over the pipe and pads to eliminate any backfill from touching the pipe or pads. Effluent flows through the perforated pipe and flows onto the top of the pads, getting filtered as it goes through.
